Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pulled off a big win against Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League on Saturday (March 18). He won the match by eight wickets with 27 balls to spare. Thanks to the stormy innings of Sophie Devine, RCB won the second match in a row. Gujarat won the toss and decided to bat first. He scored 188 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. In reply, RCB scored 189 runs for two wickets in 15.3 overs.



Sophie Devine played an explosive inning of 99 runs off 36 balls for RCB. Devine hit nine fours and eight sixes. His strike rate was 275. Smriti Mandhana scored 37 runs off 31 balls. Both shared a 125-run partnership for the first wicket. Heather Knight ended the match with 22 off 15 balls and Ellyse Perry scored 19 off 12 balls. Both the batsmen remained unbeaten.

Laura Wolvaardt scored the highest 68 runs for Gujarat. He hit nine fours and two sixes in his 42-ball innings. Ashley Gardner scored 41 off 26 balls and Sabineni Meghna scored 31 off 32 balls. Sophia Dunkley was dismissed after scoring 16 runs off 10 balls. In the last over, Harleen Deol and Dayalan Hemlata batted in a stormy manner. Together they shared a 27-run partnership on nine balls. Hemlata remained unbeaten after scoring 16 runs in six balls and Harleen Deol scored 12 runs in five balls. Shreyanka Patil took two wickets for RCB. Sophie Devine and Preeti Bose got one success each.


RCB continue in the tournament

With this victory, the RCB team remained in the tournament. He has four points from seven matches with two wins. At the same time, Gujarat Giants have four points from seven matches with two wins. RCB is on the fourth position due to better net runrate. Whereas, Gujarat is at number five.


RCB have to play their last league match against Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants against UP Warriors. RCB team would like Gujarat team to beat UP, because UP has six points. If the UP team wins against Gujarat, then with eight points it will reach the eliminator. In such a situation, RCB’s team will remain in fourth place with six points despite winning against Mumbai. If that UP team loses, then RCB will have a chance to beat Mumbai by a big margin and reach the Eliminator.
