Recep Tayyip Erdogan urges unity in Islamic countries against Israel offensive in Gaza

Israel-Hamas War: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appealed to Islamic countries to work unitedly in response to the ongoing Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip. According to the report of news agency Xinhua, he said this while addressing the fifth general assembly of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum in Istanbul on Friday (09 February 2024).

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, 69, said, “We are continuing our diplomatic contacts so that Islamic countries can take action together against Israeli brutality in Gaza.”

Erdoğan said his country is ‘working hard to ensure that crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Israel do not go unnoticed in the international arena.’

He reiterated Turkey’s commitment to support the establishment of an independent, sovereign and globally recognized Palestinian state. “We will continue our struggle until an independent and territorially unified Palestinian state is established along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” Erdoğan said.

Foreign ministers of 4 countries met in Saudi Arabia

During the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, a special meeting of foreign ministers of 4 countries was held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Thursday (08 February 2024). Apart from Saudi Arabia, foreign ministers of UAE, Qatar and Jordan were present in the meeting. Hamas says that it wants a ceasefire very soon. The situation in Gaza has become extremely worse. Regardless of this, the Israeli army is continuously carrying out attacks in Gaza.

The war between Israel and Hamas has been going on for more than four months. It started in October 2023. The Israeli army also retaliated. Thousands of people have been killed in this war so far.
