Pakistan Election Result 2024: Pakistan President Arif Alvi on Saturday expressed disappointment over the delay in Pakistan’s election results. He said, if electronic voting machines (EVMs) had been used during the general elections on February 8, the election results would have come sooner. The country does not have to face this crisis.
According to Geo News, the President said that despite the tall claims of the Commission, the new Election Management System (EMS) of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had failed. Even the preliminary results of each constituency could not be released even 72 hours after the polling ended. Posting on Twitter, Alvi said, “If EVMs were there today, my beloved Pakistan would have been saved from this crisis.”
President remembered Imran’s fight
Recalling the fight waged for EVMs by the previous PTI led government, President Alvi said that more than 50 meetings were held for EVMs, but the entire effort was abandoned. According to Geo News, Alvi said that if EVMs were used in the elections, the totals of each candidate could have been obtained within five minutes of voting.
Allegations of rigging in election results
According to a report, on February 10, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) protested in PS-22 constituency of Sindh alleging rigging in the results. JUI-F leader Rashid Mehmood Soomro said that our candidate was defeated by deliberate manipulation of the results. According to Geo News, while calling for fresh elections in many constituencies, he said, “According to the Form 45 we have, our candidate has won by 7 thousand votes.”
Similarly, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has also called for peaceful protests across the country. PTI has also accused Pakistan of delaying and rigging the election results.
