‘Mysterious’: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Says His X Account ‘Restricted’ For Some Users

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has said he feels his account on "restricted", However, he said there has been no information as such from the social media giant yet but people have complained of not being able to access his account, reported PTI. Gogoi, Congress deputy leader in Lok Sabha, said the social media cell of the grand old party is getting in touch with the company over the matter.

According to PTI, the Assam MP said he received multiple complaints. that people were unable to access his He added that his posts on the account for the last few hours were not drawing as much engagement as they usually do.

"I have received many complaints. People have sent me screenshots (of not being able to access the account). I have asked my office to at least update the people that I feel that Twitter has restricted my account," Gogoi told PTI. The Lok Sabha MP said the party’s social media cell will get in touch with"As of now, Twitter has not informed me of any such action on their part. I will look forward to a clarification," the Congress leader added.

Questioning the timing of the development, Gaurav Gogoi told ABP Live, "It is mysterious how my Twitter account has been restricted for a large section of Twitter users. The timing is suspicious. I hope the anomaly will be restored soon."

Meanwhile, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) said that Gaurav Gogoi’s X account has been restricted by the Twitter authorities since Saturday evening and no one using an Android mobile phone is able to view his account. The grand old party said they have asked technologists to monitor the issue. 

Gogoi was recently engaged in a war of words with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Gogoi sought Sarma’s resignation and a probe into the alleged government grants and land acquisition by Pride East Entertainment Private Limited, a company owned by the latter’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma.
