Final Two-Day Meet Of G20 Framework Working Group To Be Held In Raipur From Today
The fourth and final meeting of the G20 Framework Working Group (FWG) under India’s G20 Presidency will be held in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur from September 18, an official said on Sunday. More than 65 delegates from G20 member and invitee countries and various international and regional organizations will participate in the two-day meeting at Mayfair resort in Nava Raipur, the official said.
Chandni Raina, advisor to the Union Finance Ministry and Sam Beckett, chief economic advisor, HM Treasury, UK will chair the meeting, he said. The FWG facilitates discussions on the latest global economic outlook and policy guidance on key macroeconomic issues, he said. The deliverables from this working group under the 2023 Indian Presidency have been successfully concluded and are referred to in the New Delhi Leaders Declaration: G20 Report on Macroeconomic Impacts of Food and Energy Insecurity and G20 Report on Macroeconomic Risks Stemming from Climate Change and Transition Pathways, he said.
Hemant Soren’s Plea Against ED Summons To Be Heard Today
The Supreme Court on Friday adjourned to September 18 the hearing on Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s plea against the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) summons in an alleged money laundering case. A bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi deferred the matter after it was informed that senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi would appear in the matter for Soren. I am requesting the matter be heard on Monday.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi is leading us, a junior counsel said. The bench agreed to the submission. Soren has moved the apex court challenging the summons sent to him to depose on August 14 at the federal agency’s office in Ranchi and record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Cauvery Issue: TN MPs’ Delegation To Call On Union Jal Shakti Minister Today
A delegation led by Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan would call on Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi on Monday to urge him to direct Karnataka to release the state’s due share of Caurvery water, the government said on Sunday. The decision to call on the union minister comes in the backdrop of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka engaging in a tussle over the release of Cauvery water by the neighboring state, as per the Supreme Court and Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.
Chief Minister MK Stalin had said on Saturday that all party MPs from Tamil Nadu would present a memorandum to the Union Jal Shakti Minister, urging the Center to advise Karnataka to release Cauvery water to the state. An official release on Sunday said that the delegation would meet Shekhawat on September 18 evening.
