India vs Sri Lanka Final: In the final match of 2023 Asia Cup, Mohammad Siraj gave a historic performance and led Team India to victory. Sri Lankan batsmen surrendered before the lethal bowling of Siraj. In the final match of Asia Cup on Sunday, Siraj took 6 wickets and helped India win the Asia Cup title for the eighth time.
India won the final match in just 6.1 overs. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Sri Lankan team collapsed for just 50 runs in front of the lethal bowling of Siraj. This is the lowest score of any team in the ODI final. After this, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan came to open and with 263 balls remaining, Team India won by 10 wickets.
India won the Asia Cup title for a record eighth time. Mohammed Siraj, who made India the king of Asia, made many big records. In the title match, Siraj broke the back of the Sri Lankan team by taking four wickets in one over. With this, Siraj also became the first Indian bowler to take four wickets in an over.
India won the final match in just 37 balls
After playing first, Sri Lanka had given a target of only 51 runs to Team India in the final match. The Indian team achieved this modest target in just 37 balls without losing any wicket. Shubhman Gill returned unbeaten after scoring 27 runs in 19 balls and Ishan Kishan returned unbeaten after scoring 23 runs in 18 balls. Gill hit 6 fours while Ishaan hit three fours.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Sri Lankan team was bundled out for 50 runs in just 15.2 overs. This is the lowest total of any opposition team against India. Mohammad Siraj took maximum 6 wickets for India. Apart from this, Hardik Pandya took three wickets and Jasprit Bumrah took one wicket.
In front of the lethal bowling of Indian fast bowlers, 9 Sri Lankan players could not reach double figures. Only Kusal Mendis (17) and Dushan Hemantha (13) could touch double figures. Whereas Pathum Nissanka 02, Kusal Perera 00, Sadira Samarawickrama 00, Charith Asalanka 00, Dhananjay de Silva 04, Dasun Shanaka 00, Dunith Vellalage 08 and Pramod Madhushan returned to the pavilion after scoring 01 runs.
Fast bowlers took all 10 wickets
Sri Lankan batsmen looked helpless in front of Siraj in the final match. The interesting thing was that all the 10 wickets of Sri Lanka were taken by the fast bowlers of India. This has happened for the second time in the history of Asia Cup, when fast bowlers have taken all 10 wickets. Earlier, Pakistan’s bowlers had achieved this feat against India in the league stage of the same tournament.
India recorded the biggest win in terms of balls in ODI
In this final match against Sri Lanka, the Indian team has registered the biggest win in terms of balls remaining in its ODI cricket history. Team India won this match after 263 balls. Earlier in the year 2001, the Indian team had won the ODI with most balls remaining. In the match against Kenya, the team had won the match by 231 balls at the Bloemfontein ground.
